Mariah Tate Klemens was born and raised in Seattle, WA. She received her BFA from Western Washington University in Mixed-Media Sculpture emphasizing in performance in 2013. After graduating, Klemens taught and produced work in Guadalajara, Mexico. At Escuela Superior de Arquitectura she worked as an artist in residence and traveled across Mexico working with advisors formed through ESARQ. Upon returning to the United States she remained in the Northwest, attending the Centrum Emerging Artist Residency in Port Townsend, WA. She has exhibited in Bellingham, WA, Seattle WA, Portland, OR, Madison, WI and Milwaukee, WI. Klemens received her MA & MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She lives and works in Milwaukee, for a time, obsessing over ways of transforming nearly invisible objects from the “everyday” into mimetic echos of care and fragility. Recently her work articulates and explores the domestic space through pattern and abstraction.
